6-7:30 pm, FREE

Caged Dresses, Floating Kimono

with Pat Otto

You are invited to a round table artists' talk about the creative process involved in using one's artwork as a means and method of destruction and reconstruction. Artist, art therapist, and art teacher, Pat Otto will briefly describe her creative process as it results in the kimono and caged dresses currently in exhibition at Dittmar Memorial Gallery.

Participants will be encouraged to creatively destroy and re-create their old works of art into new forms by following their own unique creative process. Those interested in this experiential component, are asked to bring their own old or unwanted paper artwork, magazines, junk mail, etc. Additional supplies/tools will be provided such as scissors, glue, tape, needle and thread, string, etc.

Otto’s “Caged Dresses, Floating Kimono” opens Oct. 1 and runs through Nov. 1 at the Dittmar Gallery, located on the first floor of Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Drive, on Northwestern University’s Evanston campus. The exhibition is free and open to the public 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm. The Artists' Talk & Workshop will be held in the Gallery. Parking is free after 4pm in the lot off Campus Drive nearest the Norris University Center.
