*DREAM INTO LIFE – FACILITATOR: JOANNE RAMSEYER – Learn to use spontaneous painting, drawing, collage, and simple sculpting methods to bring dream images to life. Expressive art and writing activities will be used to strengthen connection to your dream imagery, explore meaning, promote insight and activate your unfolding creative process as a tool for making your dream images visible. Bring a dream(s) to the first class. All materials included in fee.
$100/4 wk workshop (JULY 19, 26, AUGUST 2, 9)

*THE ARTIST’S WAY: A CREATIVITY WORKSHOP (part 1) - FACILITATOR: PAT OTTO – Re-discover your own creative gifts - in whatever form they may take. This intensive workshop explores the creative spirit through readings, writings, art making, observations, and discussion. Gain a deeper understanding and experience of your own unique creative process as it reflects in your life and your artwork. Loosely based on Julia Cameron’s book, The Artist’s Way, (2) 6-week workshops will focus on themes from the book using meditation and art making activities to support your creative growth.

*CREATIVE DRAWING – INSTRUCTOR: PAT OTTO - Do you ever wish you had stronger technical skills to bring to your creative process? Art therapist and drawing instructor Pat Otto provides a structure for the creative impulse to build upon and grow, teaching a greater vocabulary for self-expression by guiding participants through exercises on the basic fundamentals of art such as line, value, form, shape and composition. Non-traditional, meditative drawing tasks are given to stimulate the imagination as well as demonstrate the basic concepts. For beginners and those with experience in the creative arts.

*The GREAT ROUND of MANDALA WORKSHOP (part 2) - FACILITATOR: PAT OTTO - Be guided through relaxation and creative exploration of The Archetypal Stages of the Great Round of Mandala (Joan Kellogg, 1984) as both a source and structure for self-actualization. With each mandala you spontaneously bring forth, a symbolic reflection of your personal growth and transformation may be seen as part of the Great Round – a cycle of wholeness. Workshops are divided into Two Parts to accommodate all 12 Archetypal Stages: Void, Bliss, Labyrinth, Beginning, Target, Dragon Flight, Squaring the Circle, Functioning Ego, Crystallization, Gates of Death, Fragmentation, and Transcendant Ecstacy.

*CREATIVE EXPRESSION STUDIO – MATERIALS, PROCESS, & IMAGE EXPLORATION FACILITATORS: JOANNE RAMSEYER AND GUEST ARTISTS - Increase your ability to access meaningful imagery while exploring a wide range of expressive art materials. Spontaneous art making and writing exercises will be used to awaken your creative energy and strengthen your relationship to your unique creative process. Participants may choose to create a series of related images, work collaboratively or focus on any art form of their choice. Fee includes basic painting/drawing/collage and sculptural materials, found and natural objects. Bring acrylics, canvases or other painting media/surfaces and personal embellishments if you like.

*CONNECT AND CREATE: WOMEN’S ART STUDIO – FACILITATOR: JOANNE RAMSEYER AND GUEST ARTISTS - Nurture your creative spirit, explore materials and artistic themes, develop technical skills, or use your art process for relaxation and wellness in the company of other creative women. For those who wish to use them, simple art making and writing activities will be offered to stimulate imagination and promote insight through exploration of your art images, themes and process. Facilitators may offer suggestions for individual or collaborative projects. Fee includes basic studio materials and water-based paints, except acrylics. Bring them if you like or any other favorite materials.

ALTERED BOOK TECHNIQUES: MIXED MEDIA ART JOURNALING - Learn how to transform discarded books into meaningful personal creations. Bring a hardcover book if you want secret drawers; soft cover for quicker results, any size, with or without interesting text/images --and any special photos (or xeroxed copies), collage images, found objects, mementos, or embellishments to personalize your book. Decorative and textured papers, paint, stamps, markers, fabric and trinkets will be available and included in the fee. Tell a story or let the images lead the way. Bring a FRIEND - $5 Discount EACH!
SUNDAY, AUGUST 8, 10:30am-12:30pm – (Ages 12 through Adults) $30.00 ORDINARY TO EXTRAORDINARY: ART FROM RECYCLED CLOTHING - Can’t part with your own or a loved one’s clothing? Don’t give it up – bring it to the studio and learn how to transform old clothing into personally expressive wearable art or a treasured fabric keepsake. Handbags, prayer flags, fabric dolls, books, pocket scrolls or amulets are some ideas to get you started. We’ll supply plenty of thread, fibers, buttons and some fabric scraps but bring clothing pieces, accessories and other sewing materials for personal use or to contribute to community materials!
